Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) is a psychotherapeutic modality designed to address intense negative emotional states, facilitate reconnection with the self, and effectively alleviate complex emotional challenges. Developed with the aims of reducing emotional intensity, diminishing self-sabotaging patterns (Patterns of Chronicity), releasing Emotional Imprints (EmI's), and addressing Identity Imprints (IdI's), IEMT offers a comprehensive approach to mental and emotional well-being.
Central to IEMT practice are the skills of observation, identification, and focused attention on specific behavioral and linguistic patterns. By leveraging these skills, practitioners administer tailored treatment protocols to support clients in navigating their emotional landscapes.

And in your words, Becca?
I'm going to have you wiggling your eyes.

No, it's not EMDR, but it has the same grandparents.

But the eye wiggling is just a part of it, albeit the part where hands come in, whether this is my hand in the session, or yours, at first, once you know how to do it.

And it's also so much more. Not only do we focus in on emotions and refer to memories, the way identity is addressed is very revealing (as well as healing ;)

It's a really interesting framework in which we are trained to pick up, through their language use and behaviour they may describe or display in the session, how a person may unknowingly be self-sabotaging .

But the eye movements are important, as they shift how highly emotially charged memories (those that serve as our behaviour templates, or grounds for belief) are stored in our brain. When the memory is no longer acting as a warning flag, we believe and behave differently.
Unlike the other modalities I use, IEMT is unashamedly non-energy, non-woo woo, wholly science based, with ongoing research into the effects and mechanisms.
Is IEMT for you?
IEMT is a really quick and effective way to shift the effects of bothersome memories, even memories we don't even know we are entertaining. It has a way of bringing up things we hadn't considered relevent - in this sense it has parallels with Intention Tapping, we work with whatever comes up next.

Unlike the tapping techniques where you have the option of talking about what's going on, IEMT is entirely content free. So if you prefer to keep your memories to yourself, or are fed up with talking about your situation, this might be the one for you.
We will of course talk in the session, it's not a silent treatment, but the less you tell me about what you lived through, the more we can do in a shorter time. Sometimes the sessions need be no longer than 20' - there is not benefit to flogging something which has already resolved.
